Prepping for Talk-Time Already!

Plans are being made for Talk-Time, a directed discussion, to be held for seven weeks in October and November.  The topics have been chosen.  We'll start sending out the announcements in mid-September.

Another Sign that Fall Approaches...

Another Sign of Fall...
We are beginning to have requests for help in finding furniture and household items for students.  Most of the time they come with one suitcase.  If they end up in an unfurnished apartment, they often just live without...

If you have any items that you're thinking of getting rid of, from pots and pans, dishes and silverware, to furniture, we'd love to connect you with a student who could use them.

And if you have time to take a student to a thrift store that would be a big help, too!

This is a great ministry - an excellent opportunity to meet people and truly connect with them, as we care for their needs.

Enjoying Connecting with Former Students

Enjoying Connecting with Former Students While I am Away...

I'm enjoying connecting with former students who have moved here.  I was able to swim with EB last week and I've gotten to have dinner with LS and SH, so far.  SM is in the area, as well...

Fall Approaches!

Fall Approaches...!
New girls begin arriving in a week.  I'm thanking the Lord for our intern who lives in the FirstGirls'House.  She will be available to the new arrivals, while I am away during the week.  It's grand to watch Him provide all that is needed at all times!

In San Francisco...!!!

I'm in South San Francisco with my cousin.  She had a bone marrow transplant last November for Hodgkins Lymphoma... She was doing well, but caught a virus so she had to come back for at least 5 weeks, and she needs a caregiver.

We expect to be here until 8/21... I'll be able to go home most weekends.

The treatment seems to be effective.

And the Lord has blessed and Sunday Dinners have continued unhindered, with usually 30-45 in attendance each week.  We are deeply grateful to the many people who come and help, and who visit with students.

Please pray that I can maximize the time I have here and complete most of the office work that needs to be done, as well.

Weekend Summary

Weekend Summary

I traveled back to Reno on Friday. Then Sunday afternoon I came back to South San Francisco again. The travel is a bit tiring, but I had a great weekend at home with David.

I spent the time preparing our spare room for company. We'll have a Chinese family stay there at the end of the month for a few weeks until their place is available. It's a new thing to be able to have room for someone to stay with us temporarily. Maybe you'd like to visit us in the "Land of the Spare 'Oom..."

I had to leave Reno at 2, but David made Chinese Chicken salad for Sunday dinner. I guess there were about 45 there.  We're so thankful for all of the volunteers who make this happen!

Saturday M from Egypt moved on to a new place. Yesterday was M from Japan's last Sunday. She leaves on Tuesday. They are some of the many who are sorely missed.
