Taiwan/Japan Trip Highlights

Taiwan/Japan Trip Highlights

(Click the link for the most updated version!)

We have returned and recovered from our 13-day trip to Taiwan and Japan.  Thank you to each one who prayed as we went. The trip provided excellent opportunities to reconnect with people who have moved back to their home countries.  A video chat usually only allows us to learn what is positive and pleasant in their lives. But seeing them in person left me feeling like I really know how they are doing!

Highlights:
  • 24 former students
  • 4 students’ families
  • 4 new students
  • Stayed in 2 h
  • omes
  • 11 spiritual conversations

(Of course, every conversation is important as we reach out with the love of Jesus.  We hope the building of our relationships with them will allow for future spiritual conversations even if they have no interest now.)

We were there for 13 days, 2-4 days in each place.  We were with different students every morning, afternoon and evening except for one morning and one evening. (And, honestly, even though I was initially disappointed that no one asked to be with us at those times, by the time we got to it I knew it was the Lord, and He knew I needed the rest. (I am an extreme extrovert, but even I need a bit of relaxation, or "Me-Time" or whatever you call it! Note to Self - next time plan time to worship and to rest.)

Two former Japanese students at an International Christian Fellowship at a Japanese church. It was exciting to watch one of these guys engage with his group about the Bible passage for a full 30 minutes into the dessert time! Please pray that they will continue to attend, now they have been introduced to the group, and even to the church!

Taiwanese Get Together
Former housemates and two guys who came to Sunday dinner - most of them hadn’t met before, as they were all in Reno at different times... Please pray they will get together again, and maybe even talk about the ideas we discussed with them.

Why we went in the first place - Engagement Ceremony.
All of these are a part of our group, former or current. Countries include Taiwan, China, Japan, India and America.

(I think they'll do okay!)
We stayed in this home of the first Japanese girl I met and her family.

4/14/16 - First Breakfast/Lunch

April 14, 2016

Cloudy, misty

Explored the area for food...

View from our bedroom window

Notice the man!
He just fed the pigeons on his roof!

Oops!  Wrong Way! (At least for food!)

Street Market

We got most of our food here

Yum!

Donut-y Thingy

Whoa!

And we're off to the subway...

Dongmen Station - our home base

Wanted to be sure I had one of these if we needed it!

Huge modern food court...

Sweet Potato Noodles
(I think...)

4/14/16 - Taiwan 101

Once the tallest building in the world...

JH,  our intrepid tour guide

YG, friend from Okinawa

I wanted one!

Fastest elevator in the world
(Took less time than moving one floor at Reno City Hall!)

Thought I would be looking straight down!

We were quite the group and got lots of notice...
I mean - there's an Indian guy, and a Korean... oh, so he's not so Korean... and a Japanese girl, and some stereotypical Americans, plus a proper Taiwanese or two!!!
And we were obviously a unit, all interacting together with no favoritism and full friendship between all of us!
